I am getting more and more frustrated with the caliber of workmanship from the stateside carpenters. Every person that swings a hammer calls themselves a carpenter. These people need to take a trip up north and see what kind of work the Manitoba carpenters put out. They will be in awe. Certain areas take extra care and pride in what they sign their name to. None of these craftsmen would be caught dead producing some of the shoddy work I have seen seeing here lately. Sometimes I feel like I have to get back to the basics around here. This is a hammer, this is a saw……

I often wonder, if Noah looked into unsecured business loans, would he have had the opportunity to put more than one pair of each of the animals on the Ark? Would the ship have been bigger with more amenities? Just like when I started my home improvement business, the idea of an unsecured loan was very tempting. To this day I question whether or not it would be a lot larger had I borrowed more money to get it going. I guess I should just count my blessings that my business is alive and well. As far as Noah goes, I guess he did a good enough job without any loans.

Wedding Cake Toppers

When I come across things like wedding cake toppers, it reminded me of my grandfather. He was a Russian imigrant and always intrigued me with his tales of “the old country.” He spoke reverently of the customs and of course the vodka. He would tell me how spartan the times were. He used to say he went to the butcher and the butcher would ask “do you want the sausage or the sausage.” This would bring on the most heart-warming belly laugh. The message was always about how simple their choices and lives were. Today, I think of all these highly selective decisions we face and have a difficult time putting them into perspective.

I was told by an associate that the real estate market in Canada was not nearly as devastated as it was here in the states. I would guess that part of the reason was that it wasn’t as inflated to begin with. I have always sensed a more down to earth demeanor from the Canadians I have been fortunate enough to know. We, in the states, had to know that the ridiculous price surges had to fizzle at some point. I for one have taken my head out of the sand. I am looking to see if there are any condos for sale in Winnipeg for me and my family. I’m ready to follow my heart.

Wedding Cake Toppers

I have been in the home renovation business since I was a child working with my father and grandfather. I didn’t imagine there would ever be a request for something that would be unique, since I have seen it all. Then one day, this gentleman with an Indian accent calls my office and proposes that I meet him to discuss a project with him. As it turned out, I did a job for this lovely Indian family about two years ago and he was in town visiting and saw what I did and he liked it very much. We met at a local cafe and he presented me with four wedding cake toppers and asked me if I could build a life sized rendition of any of them. I told him he needed a sculptor not a builder. He said it would be very financially advantageous for me to take on the challenge. I am still pondering the thought.

My brother-in-law is in the event planning business. I don’t have a clue how me manages to control it. He can never find his car keys and quite often is wearing different colored socks. My sister tells me that he found his wallet in their kitchen oven one day and tried to blame their two year old. If he can run a business as detailed as event planning, I should apply for an executive positon at NASA. Then I found out he has event management software and the mystery was solved. I can’t believe how useful software is and now I am positive it performs miracles.

Burnaby Condo

When you have the occasion to stroll through a mansion- like estate, you get this overwhelming feeling of appreciation for the artisans and skilled contractors that created this masterpiece. The problem is, it won’t stay that way without an enormous amout of dedicated maintenance. I was viewing a DVD we filmed while visiting my sister in Canada. She lives in a Burnaby condo that is absolutely gorgeous. If given the choice of the mansion or the condo, a lazy guy like me would go condo every time.
Who needs to deal with gardeners and pool men? Certainly not me.
