Let me tell you that being in the home improvement business has allowed me to have endless exposure to the furniture business. The pieces that are out there offer so many options, I can hardly believe it. Take this last project I just completed. It was a tremendous challenge to have this incredibly small space become a functional room. If it weren’t for the great selection of glass coffee tables that Cymax offers, I would have been at a total loss as to how to visually expand the space. Glass has the quality of being there without being there. This is one of the great tricks of the trade.

Condo Renovation

I recently asked three different contractors to bid on my proposed condo renovation. I did my due diligence by buying this informative DVD on just what should and should not be done. I figured I would lessen the chance of getting taken to the cleaners if these people thought I knew what was going on. Believe it or not, it really helped. Because of what I learned, I did not just go for the lowest bid. I chose the contractor I felt had the best references and visited the jobs of two of them. I am thrilled with the outcome. It’s amazing how much useful information is on DVD’s. We should all take advantage of these things.

I have been in the home remodeling business for longer than I’d like to think. Although most experiences have been rewarding and certainly have allowed me to maintain a desirable lifestyle, there was one very disheartenting circumstance that I will never forget. I was nearing completion of one of the largeat jobs I had ever done and one of my workers accidently sparked a fire while welding a pipe. There was gasoline stored nearby and in an instant much of the property was engulfed in flames. I had to get a motorhome rental for the family until we rebuilt their home.

I have this ridiculous collection of DVD’s. It is about as large as my baseball card collection when I was a kid. The truth is, I have so many that I really don’t know what I have anymore. I am more obsessive with thw DVD’s than I was with the cards. Make no mistake. I was a nut with the cards. Recently my fiancee purchased furniture retail software. She brought it over for me to look at and laid it down on my desk. While we were having a glass of wine my roommate inadvertantly put her disc in with some of mine in an attempt to tidy up. We now have a needle in a haystack.

Home Loan & Infinite Banking

It can be immensly frustrating when you go out and bid a home improvement job and win the bid, only to be told the financing didn’t happen. Money has been so tight that even people with above average credit are being turned down. If the big shots didn’t hide the concept of infinite banking from most of us, there would be a lot more people with self funding than there are now. If you bought a life insurance policy ten years ago and that premium served as a basis to fund your very own bank, you would be in a position to loan yourself the money and actually collect the interest payments instead of some bank.

I’m wondering if anyone else out there has had the same situation as me: basically that your parents are still really sound of mind but they need something a little more geared towards them. My parents are older and they’re less mobile than they used to be so I try really hard to keep them in the loop. I got them satellite from http://www.satelliteinternetbroadband.com/ for their house and I actually had them get online and look up over 55 communities in their area they could live in and not have to worry about things like mowing the lawn and cleaning the pool. They’ve found one in Arizona they really like but we’ll see…my mom’s not all that social so I don’t know how she’ll like the bridge club and all those pre-set activities but I know dad would love the golf. Anyway, they seem happy and I’m so thankful they’ve still got each other. I love being a part of their brood and helping them out when and where I can!

Infinite Banking

If you don’t want to give yourself a shock, do not look at the amortization schedule of that home improvement loan you just took out for that back porch you’re adding on. One of my friend’s clients told him that she just financed her rehab project through her own bank. She said she was involved with infinite banking that offers her endless possibilities to accumulate more and more money for her retirement fund. It may be too late for the job being done now, but better late than never. It sure must be nice to be paying interest to yourself at a rate that you, yourself can choose.

My sister and her husband were looking at buying this charming old house in Vancouver and were considering a huge home improvement renovation. It was no surprise when they asked me to join them in appraising the situation, since I am heavily involved in this area. While up there and perusing the area, we thought we’d scout out the area before getting down to exploring the possibility of the rehab. We saw a sign leading to these Surrey condos by Waterstone. End of story, the old house is out the condo is in. If you saw them, you would have no doubt why.

AS you know, I live and breath home improvement. I am a 100% proponent of the adage “every man’s home is his castle.” at times I like to step back and realize that in the big picture our planet is our home. What better home improvement could exist than that of improving our planet. This Canadian company, Metropolitan Fine Printing came up with eco friendly printing which eliminates all toxic waste in their plant. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the manufacturers on Earth would follow their lead and service humanity in such a positive way.

Feeling Like a Million Bucks

Here it is January 9, 2012, 15 days after Christmas and I’m still alive. About 5 days before Christmas, I thought my social life was over. For the life of me, I couldn’t think of what to get for my fiancee, my mother or my sister as Christmas presents. Fortunately, while I was desperately surfing the net, I found exactly what to get each one of them.

For my fiancee, I found the most beautiful pair of sneakers. I found the nike mercurial vapor size 14 violet poppy. For my Mom, I got her the run away double glitz michael kors watch and for my sister, I got her the michael kors 227556 silver watch.

Gee, they were elated with all my choices and I felt like a million bucks because I found become.com to do all my shopping. They have it all. Now all I have to do is get my home improvement project done before Valentine’s Day.
